

Manual Handling Awareness |

Manual Handling is defined as The transporting of supporting of loads by hand or bodily force and includes any activity requiring the use of force exerted by a person to lift, lower, pull, push carry or otherwise move, hold, restrain any animate or inanimate object. |

Training |
|
A high percentage of manual handling injuries result in over 3 day injuries. This results in sickness/absence from work and ultimately lost production to the company.
The injuries are after a strain or sprain, mostly of the back. Sometimes bones are broken, other times may result in cuts or burns depending on what is to be moved. |

This course is designed to enable operatives to carry out any manual handling in a safe controlled manner. It identifies what is required to assess a load safely via risk assessment. |

· To identify the duties of an employee in relation to manual handling · To identify the safest way to carry out any manual handling tasks · To enable personnel to assess loads to be moved · To enable personnel to risk assess the load · To identify other avenues that can be explored to eliminate manual handling completely |
